As one of the marquee projects at the Northumbrian Countdown, I have ranked the 100 most deserving artists for future induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. All artists must have been eligible for the Class of 2019, meaning that their first record must have been issued in 1994 or earlier. That means all of these artists have been passed over at least once, and doesn’t include newly eligible artists like Weezer, Oasis, or Biggie. My overarching goal is to foster a Rock Hall reflective of a broad range of subgenres and chronological eras. This includes commemorating both well-loved acts that have become a wider part of our culture, as well as more obscure but impactful acts who are deserving of public recognition. The Hall should be a place where our legends are honored, but we should also be open to learning more from a visit and challenging our preconceptions of what great rock music is.
